Welcome to the pages of S.S.C. (or Sorrell Song Contest).

This contest has been running since 1994 and has always been a postal competition until 6 years ago.

This years contest is being played by post AND via the Internet and these web pages.
To participate you will need a copy of Windows Media Player Version 9 or greater.

This year's contest promises to be the closest run contest to date with a very high standard of entry.

Songs from 78 countries were involved from the beginning but only 25 made the final. Out of all the entries this year 125 songs were choosen and submitted into 5 semi finals, from which 16 of the 25 songs were chosen. The rest were choosen by the organiser as automatic qualifiers.

There should have been only 15 qualifiers from the semi-finals but Germany got thru as a highest loser due to one of the automatic finalists songs being rejected as a cover version.

This is the first year that semi-finals have been used to determine the songs that qualify for the final.
